My wife says I should have been less modest in the way I introduced this episode. She probably has a point. Hey everyone, check out this slammin' podcast episode with even more PW than usual!
What I appreciated about this episode especially was your off-the-cuff, candid responses. It was nice to hear some of your perspectives by themselves within their own context. I wish that the environment was less toxic so that journalists were allowed to consciously share their perspectives outside of the journalism itself. It builds on the idea of separation between journalist and columnist. It'd be nice for "citizen" to be a hat that can be worn and discussed, too.
Look Paul. No Bullshit. You are the best political journalist in Canada; you have EARNED that public trust; and you have EARNED the post Maclean’s career. And I am delighted that you have maintained your “voice”, albeit via electronic media. Best wishes for the New Year.
The best way to understand any journalists views via social media, is through this type of mailbag response, served by a q and a podcast where the q’s are not known in advance and the a’s are spontaneous.
Not to belabour a point but credibility is key when so many journalists on line are partisan.
Person approaching old age, dependent on hearing aids and tethered to the screen/keyboard in this gig economy probably till I die, begs to differ. I *greatly* appreciate the audio options! Especially the chance to listen to PW's voice but also happy to get chores/exercise in while listening to the app's auto-reader.
I quite enjoyed this, thanks, in particular the sociological assessment of the Tory caucus we have versus the more urban and urbane Tory MPs that might be coming. Am I wrong in perceiving that Liberal MPs tend to be more alike than different -- educated, successful, attractive, ambitious?
Really enjoyed the podcast and could comment on a lot of it, but will pick up on only two things. First of all at the 15:18 mark you talk about how bad it could be for Canada if the U.S. President refers to us as a failed national state. But I seem to recall that a long time ago Trudeau referred to Canada as a post-national state, so I'm thinking the damage has already been done. Secondly, you might want to keep the success of your writing and podcasts on the down-low, as the Lib-Dip coalition doesn't care for successful, well run companies (like banks, grocery stores, oil & gas companies) so they may come after you for an excess profits tax!

Smash that like button, as they say.

Very much enjoyed hearing your mailbag podcast.. keep building trust .. most critical to build on what you have established!

Do it again sometime?
This was a great podcast. Keep going!
Do not want to be critical but I prefer reading than listening. I find the same with other people of my old age.

I listen to him on CBC and Radio Canada live. He is good in both languages.
"late" career ... you're still a young man, sir!
Loved the podcast.

Opening up a bit more to us, thanks! A nice listen.
Please continue to do both: write and deliver podcasts! Very Canadian (from Sarnia) of you. to have concerns about your modesty!
Fantastic show! Lot's to think about. Thanks for your work.
You have a wonderful memory.......Thank you.
