This was great. I’m sorry to hear you have a cold, but on the other hand, as a relatively recent subscriber, I probably would not have heard this interview. Loved it. Please add me to the list of people asking for a new interview with Margaret MacMillan.

And don’t get another cold, but bring on the interview with close second, please. (There must be a way to search your Substack for the other two names, but I’m a beginner and haven’t figured out how.)

Would love to hear a 2025 conversation with Margaret MacMillan. This one a few years after recording is still very relevant and interesting.

I. too, hope you have another opportunity to talk soon. How the world has changed; what tiny hints of what was then the future crept into the conversation: China, Canada's role as a counterbalance to US in NATO, geopolitics re the Arctic, Russian claims that Ukraine doesn't exist as a nation (read USA/Canada!). History cannot predict the future, as you both agreed, but this 2023 interview is so dramatically innocent of how those hints have morphed into our uneasy present. A wonderful 40 minutes leaving me wanting much more.

From one who plays tennis "very badly" (I'd rather use a racket to strain cooked pasta, not my back) to another, what a great interview of a great writer. I was compelled to listen to it twice...

Wonderful re-visit to the recent past. Let us hope for another session when Margaret MacMillan completes her new work.👍
