Great podcast, Paul! As a painter it is reassuring to know that the frustrations, dead ends and failures are common across all creative disciplines. I'm heading off to my local independent bookstore to order up a copy. As an avid footnotes reader I am also looking forward to that reward. Thanks!
Intresting.... BUT. How I would love to "rebuttle' a LOT of this. As the author of : "Beyond Discouragement, Creativity" and 12 other books on the topic of creation, I have a lot to "straighten out" re the discussion of and re-alignment with "sanity" and the overall normalcy of being creative - rather than adhere to the consideration of anxiety and worry and upset as a creativity norm. Being alone in the studio is not about being "lonely" It's about being serene within your own realm (voice) and the doing rather than the "being" of the contemporary notion of being an artist. Sigh....
I enjoyed and benefitted from this excellent and imaginative article which I am going to copy to my children and grandchildren since it offers insightful advice to all levels of literary creativity. Got a school essay important business document to create ?- read Paul Wells before, during and after.
For fans and students of creativity, Moss was on Pivot (~47 minute mark). Paul’s is the superior interview. https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/pivot/id1073226719?i=1000655536035

Love how young Adam Moss sounds (think he said he was almost 67).
Great episode, Paul. Your eclectic mix of interviewees and subjects is much appreciated.
