KD is a lovely lady in person. I met her at the Premiere of Balletlujah a ballet created by Jean Grand-Maître for Alberta Ballet. Al set to her music. Cannot forget her at the Vancouver Olympics.
Delightful surprise Paul. Got to love KD Lang. it took me back to when I first moved to Canada, Edmonton of all places. For a Brazilian, born and raised in Rio, travelled extensively, lived in San Francisco, Alberta was something else. Close to our house, unexpectedly, a restaurant/bar opened - the sidetrack cafe - and this amazing young woman played often. We were smitten. And the love affair blossomed since.
I loved this and wish I had kept more of her works. As an older person, we have been culling our old LP's and CD's and are amazed at what we have, and what we didn't. k.d. Lang is a beautiful musician; and we are from a musical family. She is so impressive. Thank you Paul for giving us this interviews. Gail B, St. C.
I enjoyed this interview because k.d. has a most sensitive, passionate, fascinating voice, and I'm not even a follower of popular music!!! I'm 83 and my dial is always tuned to something classical, but knowing k d. has done Canada proud with her warm personality, tender soul and beautiful music
Way back when, I saw the Wedding Dress styling and it seemed awkward. So while her music has been enjoyed, I never knew knew what to make of the person as opposed to the performer. Thank you for this well done interview. It felt like I was getting to know, a little bit, a thoughtful, open and interesting woman.

Extraordinary voice, great artist.
Thank you for this, Paul Wells.
I do love your political writing, and always enjoy your passionate plunges into what excites you outside the political realm.
One of your greatest hits. Been listening to her since the 80s.

She was Miss Chatelaine. … she laughed at that.
Thanks for this. You make me wanna write about hearing kd and her band within the first week of moving to Canada in 1986.
What a great introduction to our country.

One of my favorites, as well. I've seen her once in concert, plus have several of her CD's.

I was waiting for you to ask her how she got Ed Thigpen on Absolute Torch and Twang.
Not appropriate tonight but Love Lies Bleeding another ballet from Jean for Ballet about Elton John. Look it up.
I'm glad for the encore of past interviews. lang remains utterly fascinating and Hymns of the 49th Parallel is sublime.
