Wonderful Paul. My eldest step-daughter sent glowing reports about the Oscar Peterson 100th anniversary concert. While we have pretty good jazz festivals in Vancouver, it's pretty hard to beat Montreal's.
Really enjoyed this article. (I also really enjoyed Nasuna's article about the wildfires. It was a very different kind of enjoyment.)
Jazz is such a mysterious music. I appreciate you helping to remove some of the mystery. Even though I am not sure removing mystery is what you set out to do...
Paul, I subscribed to you for your insights on public policy, but find I look forward to you excursions deep into music. A delightful read!
Wonderful report, Paul, much appreciated even though I'm not into jazz!
Love the photos…review not bad either.
Merci!
Great piece left me feeling as if I were there. Imagine

Thank you for your insights!
Multi-talented guy! Great pictures, Mr Wells!
Thanks for this post. This festival and this city continue to amaze me.
I've heard JALC twice at the Sony/Meridian/? and did not enjoy them. The solo pieces seemed to be for the band members and not for the audience.
I heard Katy Gyorgy at the 100th birthday Oscar Peterson show at Massey Hall. She was fabulous. I've added her to my must see list.
Love the Binnie story, Paul. I'm a huge fan and try to never miss him when he's in Montreal! Regards from L.A.
I lost track of Binney's career post-Lost Tribe; when him and Ben Perowsky et al were young up and comers. Thanks for making me feel old.
I used to see Lost Tribe every time they came to L'Air du Temps in Old Montreal, back in the day. A supergroup for that generation of players.
