Part of the appeal of the Angine phenomenon is the comments under the KEXP video. One of my favourites was posted only seven minutes before I started prepping this post for publication:

"The long-awaited sequel to music."

It is truly a top-tier comments section.

"I started off confused, then became happy, and now I'm triangle."

"I've put this on a loop in the gym and been running on a treadmill for hours. In the wrong direction."

"The elites don't want you to know this, but you can just make your own notes."

"This is how John and Yoko thought they sounded."

Lovely stuff! Thank you, Paul and Mark.

Ps. Dare I ask for more Mark Lepage scattered throughout the year?

I'm experiencing some relative of cognitive dissonance, trying to figure out why I watched the whole thing.

Loved it! I danced around the kitchen with my coffee. I will echo BH. Can we please see more Mark Lepage? Coldplay should be worried! Or, we've all been had....?

That Coldplay line is chef's kiss fine!

Frank Zappa would approve.

Great post! Another interesting phenomenon is the abundance of the "reaction videos" on YouTube which are an alternative way to listen yo yhe band!

Erin explains why ADP could only come from Saguenay considering the creative history of the region. Worth checking out.

I like the regionalism angle. We still come from *somewhere*, even if the Internet attempts to flatten that. And yeah, that YouTube comment section is therapy 🤣

This was super useful except that I may be hooked on microtonal math music now. Fortunately I just bought a new looper pedal so I’m going all in.

C’est assez prodigieux comme son ou sons (?). Je me demande encore quelle est la partie des jams et de l’impro dans chacune des pièces. Aussi, les prouesses du pied droit de Khn sont surprenantes ;)

A toast to weirdness and regionalism!

OK, admittedly I only stayed with that video for three minutes so... nevertheless, seems like nothing more than imitation of Jack and his "sister". The White Polka-Dots?

Another 3-min listener. I'm interested in totally new things, yes. But also in knowing history.

In our house we're completely agog over the comprehensive US historical-Imperialism critique, set to the Egyptian oud and sung by an irrespressible Australian guy:

Thank you for replacing the Ayatollah ...

Joseph Tawadros reminds me of Pete Seeger, who kept his head and delivered short, clear messages to the widest possible audience, for their political nourishment. I'll stay tuned, but I don't expect such generous clarity from the heart attacks of the moment. Well see, I guess.

Great article. Mark is a talented writer.
