Did somebody say "red" chamber?

The Globe asked a bunch of questions about Parliament in an age of Carney majority. Here's what I've learned about possible answers.

The Ottawa colony was abuzz on Tuesday as the Globe and Mail published a few successive versions of a story about what Mark Carney might do after the April 13 by-elections.

Based on the advice of two sources, colleagues Fife&Chase wrote that the prime minister might prorogue Parliament to set the table for a new burst of energy; change the composition of Commons committees so Liberals could better control them; and appoint his principal secretary, Tom Pitfield, to the Senate so Pitfield could push legislation through the amorphous upper house.

Carney and assorted other government figures soon denied all of it. I don’t doubt that the Globe had sources, but the sources may want to get out more. There are good reasons why much of what was in the Globe story won’t happen. But clearly something will happen. Indeed a lot has already been happening. Here’s what I’ve learned.
